Default Clunk sound - tricky 1st gear

shortly after purchasing an ap1 i noticed a clunk sound. the sound comes after coming to a stop and when i press in the clutch pedal it gives the clunk sound.. wth?? i also have noticed shes a bit sticky goin into first. i tend not to downshift from 2 to 1 and only use first when pulling out of a dead stop.. seams a little reluctant to go in smoothly.. at times i just do a 2 to 1 shift as it seams to make a smoother transition.. call me crazy!?!? i have an extended bumper to bumper warranty that i purchased with the vehicle - my question to all is --- do i take it to the dealer and approach as a warranty issue or do i just fix it myself? thanks for the input.. vehicle came un-moded and has all service records from the dealer - mileage is at 70ooo if that matters.. thanks again..

All I have to say is you're not crazy for going second into first, for a smoother transition. That same logic applies to any manual transmission car. Starting at a higher gear and going lower. I've always done that, force of habit.

It pains every time I see somebody go from neutral into first in any car, and you can see the forced nudge into gear.

Always go neutral, second into first and your life will forever be changed. (dramatization)

thanks technikue.. sorry if misspelled - any ideas on the clunk. ? i have a 100 dollar copay and then they "cover" parts and labor - so if its something i can get em to cover id like to.. but if its something they will say is just the nature of a manual tranny than f it.. thanks again..

it's also pretty common for 1st (and sometimes second) to be a little clunky until the gearbox is nice and warm

well as i got onto the freeway ...... did a few upshifts and dropped down a gear due to traffic i got a helluva grind noise goin into fifth gear. it felt as though it didnt wanna go so i didnt force it.. now itll go into gear just a bit reluctant to go in. has a bit of a clunk while coming out of gear.glad the car is not a daily. financed with extended warranty so hope all will be covered (with 100 $ deductible in mind) any thoughts?? im thinking synchro?? i was not droppin into redline was rollin maybe 70 mph when dropped down to scratchville
