Hi Guys,
Just checked with my mechanic that I will need to replace my transmission.
I found this online:

Wondering if any of you guys ever bought stuff from them.
Or you guys can point to the right direction.
Thanks!

WHY exactly do you need a new trans ? are you just taking his word for it. needing a new trans in not the most common of things you sure he didn't say/mean clutch
Noise mainly. I will try my best to describe.
When I speed up, sometimes sounds like some sort of knocking sound(pilot bearing kind), @ about 3000 rpm but it happens at higher rev too. On a good day, it doesn't happen, but it happens quit a lot.
It also happens when I down-shift, similar kind of noise.
Also, when it is neutral, there is something like "ting ting" kind of noise, but if I press down the clutch, the noise is gone.
He said there are couple of the bearing are failing. It is better of the replace it instead of change it. Any thought? Any good place in Seattle I can go to for a transmission inspected? Also, he said I need clutch too.

What is TIB?

it was an abbreviation.....just like FITV IACV and what not
VTEC is part of your head, not your transmission. The ISB going bad is extremely common for our transmissions, especially if you're running the wrong fluid. It sounds like your mechanic isn't comfortable actually working on transmissions - just replacing them. If you aren't willing/capable of working on your own car, you should look into finding someone who can actually dig into your transmission. Any used replacement is going to give you the same problems in short time, and any brand new transmission is going to be stupidly expensive.

I am looking to upgrade the engine and transmission in the future ( when I save enough money). What type of engine would fit in my Del Sol? Is there any good place I can go and research?
Thanks!
I am looking to replace myself and learn. How long it take to replace the bearing?

Ohh mann, haha. Sorry OP! dyslexia got me good that time. If you browse around in the hybrid forum youll find a lot of usefull information. The ISB bearing change isnt all that difficult if youve pulled transmission before. If not Dseries.org has a good write up on it.
We have a good write-up here, as well. Even better than both, though, is the FSM. As long as you have an eye and mind for perfection (tolerances are important), you can do it. First ISB I ever did was actually a full bearing, seal, and synchro replacement, and it took me roughly 8 hours once I got the transmission on blocks. It's definitely a weekend project.

If it was the throw out bearing the sound would not go away when the clutch pedal was depressed. It sound to me like it is most likely one of the bearings in the transmission. Iwould replace the bearings because like someone said a used transmission could end up with the same problem shortly after putting it in.
I would look into replacing all of the bearings and seals in your transmission. Your synchros wouldn't be a bad idea, either. With the amount of time and work involved (the ISB is basically the last thing you can remove from the transmission), might as well do it all preventatively.
