made a few passes at etown today (before they closed the open lanes 1.5 hours early..)
besides my trans locking me out of 3rd gear twice, i noticed that my rpms move up and down when accelerating, especially in 3rd and 4th gear.

i have the cursor at the top of 3rd gear for perspective, but i can see that the rpm line increases pretty smooth in gears 1 and 2, but 3 and 4 it jumps a bit. am i making a big deal out of nothing or is this something i should look in to? this is an oem distributor with new cap/rotor/wires/ and some ngk 4554's 8 heat range gapped @.018. power level should be 500 =/- 10hp, as it made 475 on the dyno on 2 less psi

Most likely its old OEM wiring causing the noise...
Only way to test is to try another dizzy to see if it changes at all...if ZERO change, its the wiring.

awesome advice you guys. thanks. ill try the plugs first since they are the easiest to replace. i have another distributor but it is a different obd so id have to solder up a quick conversion harness from my box o' wires in the basement.
just wondering, would that cause the engine to perform worse/differently? i feel like the other year i would back half a few more mph than i did the other day on pretty much the same tune.
