Still Burning Oil....
Even after the rebuild I'm still burning oil, but I don't think it's my rings. I checked my plugs and I have oil on the bottom portion of the plugs, where the threads are. Bad valve seals? Car doesn't smoke at idle only at full throttle @ high RPMs. Any ideas? Thanks.

1. 1780 miles now
2. At initial startup it does smoke a lil....but it'll be ok for the rest of the day.
Rebuild is still NA and I just started using 5w30 Mobil 1 synthetic. I know with the lighter oil it's gonna burn quicker....but I had 10w30 Castrol GTX for the break in and around 900 miles I found the oil on the plugs and lost about 1-1 1/2 a quart from 0miles to 600miles. I'll get some compression numbers later on tonight if I can. If it helps any, motor was rebuilt with GE sleeves and JE pistons and rings. Thanks

OT... but Projekt20, what size bore did you go with as far as your GE sleeves?... i am planning on sleeving my block this winter and have been told conflicting info... some say stock bore... some say 84.5mm... lemme know... thanks...
Sounds to me like you've got yourself a case of bad valve seals. Do a compression test. and see what kinda numbers you come up with. I'll bet your breakin is just fine.
I'd say just pull the head and have a basic valve job done to it and you ought to be back in business.

what kind of piston rings did you use? when u did rebuild...did you bore cylindar walls? if not...that could be the problem. Je piston rings don't seal to good. Especially if when u did the rebuild, and u didn't do a little boring. Maybe invest in a set of total seal piston rings? I heard very good things about those.
Actually I've heard it the other way around.....that Total Seal Rings suck. I dunno....I'm gonna do a comp. test this weekend and give you guys an update. Thanks.
