Transmission flush vs drain and refill
I heard that flushing can kill your tranny should i just drain the fluid and refill it? I heard the extra pressure in the lines can free up and junk in the tranny and all that dirt will clogg up the internal metal screens which will cause it to fail a lot sooner. is this true? any advice would be appreciated.
in my exp as a chevy tech what happens is the material that has normally worn off the clutch packs/disks is still floating around, then you exchange old/new fluid you loose that old material and you loose some of the friction that is in the fluid. I know don't make a lot of sense but that is best way I can say it. However if we are talking about a normal DD that has been maintained properly 99% of ppl will never have a problem with a trans flush (if done correctly).
Honda does not recommend flushing an automatic transmissions. They had technical service bulletins about it for years. The biggest issue with Honda automatics specifically is they don't have a replaceable filter, it's buried in the transmission and a flush can blow all the dirt trapped in it back out into the transmission where it plugs up small passages.
