Default 95 Gsr starting funky

I bought a 95 Gsr a few nights ago and I've noticed it tends to run funky usually only in the morning. When I try to crank it it just starts then dies. I can keep it from dieing by giving it gas and then the rpm gauge just starts twitching all over the place like it has a mind of it's own (I still have full control over the throttle the gauge just spazzes out) The car sometimes has a slight bog in the lower rpm range too when driving. I changed the fuel filter last night the battery and alternator are fine I just had them checked. I hear a slight constant hissing noise around the intake manifold. The car is 100% bone stock. It's got a pretty bad valve tick which I'm getting adjusted today idk if that would have anything to do with it though.

ALSO this problem is inconsistent it happened this morning but after a little bit of driving around the car seems to start idle and drive fine.

Any suggestion will help! Thanks.

Sounds like your distributor is on its way out. I can't remember the exact component that fails and causes the jumpy tach and overall sluggishness that you're having, I believe it's the ignitor

I think your right, in most cars its the module that controls tach, and I think they are considered the same thing just diff name.

ICM, ign. control module , however a ICM failure will normally result in a no start.

The "hissing" sound may be a vacuum leak, time to get out the BIC. 94
