95 Civic won't start
So drove my 92 civic si with a d15b vtec engine to my friends house to swap (d15b vtec) to my 95 civic dx. D15B vtec engine ran great when i dropped it off. My friend did the swap but the car will not start. The 95 civic used to be a at but he switched it to a mt. If i spray carb cleaner into the throttle body it will stay running but as soon as i stop it dies. Fuel pump primes. There is spark. and now the battery is draining. My boyfriend said it's the starting system? Also when my friend did the swap he melted the throttle body cable due to the starter shorting out. I replaced the starter. All the fuses are good too. Can any body help me please. Also have tried two different ECU's, there was not a change.
They all get voltage. The fuel pump is on till the car dies too. When the guy tried to start it the first time the starter shorted out causing the throttle cable to melt. I'm wandering it it could have screwed up the wiring?

No it was the throttle cable. It actually melted to the bracket and i had to buy a new cable and bracket and a new starter for that matter. I can keep it running if i spray carb cleaner in the trottle body. I'm really sorry if i sound stupid too i just don't no where to begin if the wiring is jacked.
