Default 2000 Si Engine Help!

Ok so I have a 2000 civic Si that I believe has a burnt exhaust valve in cylinder #3. So I did a compression test on all the cylinders and everything was ok except on cylinder #3 which had 10lbs of pressure. Took it to my buddies garage and he did a leak down test on it and said that the cylinder wouldn't hold any pressure at all. Told me he would check a few other things and get back to me. Well he just called me yesterday and told me that it had a burnt exhaust valve and that I will need a new head. He also told me that after parts and labor im gonna be spending about 1000$ which I do not have atm. So I ended up finding a gsr head for 500$. So my 2 questions are 1.) He said I can still drive it and it shouldn't do anymore damage then whats already done I will just be running on 3 cylinders, is that true? and 2.) Im almost positive that the gsr head will bolt up to the b16 as long as I use a gsr intake manifold also right? Is there anything else I need to change If I go with gsr head besides the intake mani? Im not worried about power or anything like that atm. Im worried about getting my daily driver back because I need this car to get back and forth to work and what not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance!

why would it need a new head? new valve + valve job and you should be good to go.

DO NOT drive it as is. YOU WILL do more damage.

remove head, do valve job, re install, life is good again for the little baby 1.6!

Im definitely NO mechanic, even though I do most of the stuff myself so I was just taking his word for it. So obviously he was wrong about 1000$ and needing a complete head? I guess I will look into the pricing for new valves + valve job. Do you guys have a rough estimate of how much something like that costs and is it something that I could tackle on my own or no?

head gasket set and and a valve are like 10 or $20 if your just replacing that one burnt valve everything in parts should be about less then $200 and from there labor on valve job and machine shop to resurface the head

Thank you. I got a price on a head gasket for the si and it was like 65$. I found the valves for around 14$-30$ each. Now I will just have to call a couple shops and get prices on labor and re-surfacing the head. I will call some places after work today because I don't have any idea how much something like that costs. Thanks again guys!

Piece of advice....don't take your car to your buddies garage anymore.
Doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable, and/or he is trying to pull one over on you...

def find someone new to work on the car, avoid individuals that claim they can do anything you want.

the head does not need to be milled unless its out of spec and i would advise against it unless it needs it.... i would only charge at most 200 to change a valve and remove/install of the head

Before you do or buy anything else, do your own cylinder compression and leak down tests to verify your "buddy's" diagnosis. It wouldn't be surprising if he's wrong.
