check this out, my roomate got a 96 se integra. The stamp looks really weird to me? Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

I'v personally seen people redo their stamps for both show and stolen reasons, and that was from a small town in TN, so it is very possible.

 

Looks like what was originally on it was ground off, then new numbers and letters were stamped on.

 

STOLEN bet there is no vin tag on it

 

or it's a base LS that someone wanted to pass off as an ITR

numbers are not right and i've blown up enough ITR that the b18c stamp is drilled in my brain

they did a good job on the fake though, would fool a lot of people

 

What gave it away OP? The "ground-off" area or the incorrect/erratic font?

 

damn thats no good... pop off the oil pan and see if its real R crank. I saw a type r block stamped b1 but never a non r block stamped to mimic an r.

 

Ha ha no one would do that if it was a b18c5 block.

 

Yeah guys, my roomate traded his beat *** fourdoor ls eg for a integra with a "typer" engine in it, I got home and saw this. I already assumed it was. This just proves it, didn tknow if there was something I wasnt aware of that Honda may have done or X Y Z. Thanks guys.

That's what I mean. No one would do that if it was legit.

 

what does the head stamp say?

it is probably a b18a1 or b1 and has a vtec head on it so they re did the stamp to pass it off as a type r but the font is wayy off

 

Must have compared to OP's ITR prior to purchase and felt that it was authentic...

No, that is as illegal as it gets. If I pulled your "boy" over and saw this his car would be impounded in a heart beat. Tampering with a VIN number is uber no no.
