11.13 @ 119 Stock Block N/A H2B
Just wanted to share my new personal best and some results from a header test we did.
Setup consists of:
Stock jdm h22a block
Head work
Skunk2 pro1 cams
Stock intake manifold ported by Randy (NAH2B) with a 1/2 spacer
Blox 76mm tb
4"-3.5" intake piping
Previous pb was 11.32 @ 117

Tested a header made by Randy Owens aka NAH2B. Header was designed for a 95mm setup so it is too large for my optimal setup but it still gained power over my rmf header. Thanks to Cody (blade0314) for sending me his personal header just to test out!

Thanks to Kenny at turbogixxer tuning for working his magic, shiva @ straightline motorsports for all the work and help with getting the car together, Cody for letting me borrow the header and Randy for building an awesome header
Trying to dial the car in a bit more and hopefully finally get the stock block in to the 10's. I have no doubt it has it in it

not so inconsistent afterall, good job
you really need to get the tb out of the hood and get rid of that long headlight intake. I know the dyno liked it the best but going down the track at 100mph+ is another story. get the tb out of the hood and I think you will be the first 10 second h2b on stock bock!!!
id like to send you another ram air plenum to test at the track if you guys are willing to strap it back down and re-tune, hit me up and let me know. not sure how long you will have the header or how long until the weather down there gets hot/humid but id love to see you go 10s

the long intake tube hes currently using is definitely a restriction at high speed+high rpm compared to a open tb ram air setup or forward facing itbs
on the dyno yes, Jay already tested and the larger plenum volume hurt it which I predicted on the small displacement. BUT at the track with the tb out of the hood providing access to a large volume of air at high speed I think there will be a noticeable gain. only way to know for sure is to give it a try, he doesn't really have anything to lose and it would be awesome to go 10s on a stock block.

Have you ever tested a box around your TB?
I'm sure Jay will hit 10's this season, to run 11.1 in 80 degree humid weather yesterday was impressive. Once December rolls around he should have no problem.
You guys (NAH2B, Cody, JayWest) keep pushing and pushing the limits and setting new standards for us H22 fans. Keep it up and hope to see a 10 second pass on a stock block, that would be inspirational.
not a box but I did a lot of testing at capital a few years back when I first started running the ram air. I tried several different variations and lengths of tubing with v stack.
I tried short lengths as short as 2" off the tb, medium lengths like 6" to 12", and long lengths that ran down the hood and stuck out above the front bumper like what Jay is currently using. I even had one that looked like a snorkel it came off the tb and 45ed up a few inches then 45ed forward trying to gain height looking for that sweet spot of air lol. the ones that ran down the hood and out past the front bumper I had to zip tie down so they wouldn't blow off the car lol.
im sure it looked like a hot mess to anyone sitting in the stands at those test n tunes, I definitely got some weird looks on the return road
believe it or not none of the tube setups worked, infact every one of them lost between 1 to 1.5 tenths. I also tried using the v stack by itself on the tb and it did absolutely nothing, no gain, no loss compared to open tb by itself.
I know it can be different with forward facing itbs and im not sure why. 4 individual tbs next to eachother compared to 1 single tb all alone by itself could be the cause I would guess. I know Jake runs that air duct/ram off his itbs and it seems to work from what he has told me. it could be that containing a volume of air infront of and around the 4 itbs provide more constant volume for those 4 itbs which obviously draw from eachothers air supply. it also could be speeding up the air/ more velocity. you don't have the downside of division with a single tb. from my testing and imo theres no need for something like that on a single tb when that tb is placed in the direct path of high speed/large volume air. I believe it would become more of a restriction than a benefit
Thanks man we keep the h alive lol
I did always want to add a nice looking scoop into the hood but never got around to it. I wanted to try funnel shape scoop as well as narrow entry scoop with expansion room post entry/pre tb but just never had the time to get around to it.
I plan on testing kinsler itbs with jdm jeffs old airbox see how it compares...
Thanks everyone
Randy you know me, I'm down to test anything! Lol, I'll let you know when we get closer to getting the header done since I need to get this one back to cody. But I got an old hood I'll cut up and run the ram air with. Think i got it consistent enough for some track testing now, lol
