Icon2 93 civic distributor wiring help

hey there,
new to the forum just have a question for someone in the know.

i have a 93 civic si. but someone swapped it to the d15b7. so i blew that up in january. now i got hold of a d15b from japan im guessing. some one has put a new distributor on it cos all the wires are clean and the housing is shiny.

so the problem im having is that my wiring harness in the car has two plugs and the new distributor has only one.

the colors match except i have one extra blue wire on the cars wiring harness.

does anyone know where this distributor would be from and how i can connect it up? thanks

If you still have your old distributor you can just use that. The blue wire is for the tach signal.

so in the 99 version what colour is the tach wire? if i had a wiring diagram for the 93 and a wiring diagram for the 99 then i could make it work right? any one got info where to get these diagrams? cheers

There isn't one, '99 - '00 models (except HX) get their tach signal from the ECU. If you remove the cap and rotor and the plastic cover underneath you'll see an empty terminal on the igniter/ICM, this is where the missing wire goes.

Apparently that's a real BMW promotional shift ****. Near as I can tell most or all of them were mounted on some sort of paperweight type thing.

Hey,
Just another question. seems my timing is way out now. and ive ran out of adjustment. i had a mechanic check it over and he says everything is fine in the cam timing etc just need more adjustment on the distributor. is that a known problem when doing these conversions? im out 10 degrees still. car is running ok but the mechanic said he rotated the distributor 10 degrees more then vice gripped it and took it for a drive and it ran with alot more power.

Sounds like the service check connector isn't being jumped which is needed to adjust ignition timing.

Look at the top of this sub forum, the dark grey threads marked "stickies".

The third on down is called "Frequently Asked Questions". Click on it and browse around.

This came out of that section.

so there is no difference in casting that would make the newer obd2 distributor not work? i cant find any info on this.

and i think the mechanic that did the timing did jump this connector as he left it hanging out from under my dash thanks

D15B7/D15B8 distributor housings are identical to D16Y7/D16Y8 housings when comparing the bare housing. If you're running out of adjustment either the 2 wire connector isn't being jumped, or the mechanical timing is off.
