Default SRS Light On.. HELP!!

Hey guys, own a 00 Civic ex. Did a DIY jdm
Amber cluster and repaired my seat. One thing I found out was srs connection from the cluster was off since I owned it? Figure it was when I installed my seat back on. Made sure the connection of the seat belt was properly seated.

Reset the light, took me a few tries to get it correctly. Once it was off, took it for a spin to see if it would come on. Once I turn my steering wheel it had cane on?

Well, did a few research and pulled out the code.

This is the site I used for my procedure:

http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=189094

Also, made a video of the code flashes.

Hopefully this help for you guys. I'm not certain in how to read the code and narrowing down its problem. It seems like it could be at the drivers side air bag?

If anyone could help out I'd really appreciate it a lot!

Thank you!

Mike

If any of the sensors in the front bumper got ripped off or are lose it will cause the srs light to come on.

That's a 1-1, drivers side air bag inflator.

To actually test and troubleshoot this code requires a special tool.

Likely why it was unplugged so the PO didn't have to look at the light.

It's either a bad inflator (integral to the bag), bad cable reel or an open or increased resistance in the SRS control unit harness.

What kind of special tool would I need to do my troubleshooting?

Would you mind explaining how to read the code correctly?

Wondering if this could be a common things on civic. Never had problems with my other car with the srs system. Maybe still under warranty from Honda?

Thanks for the help guys!
Hopefully I can solve this soon!

If the light didn't come back on until you turned the wheel, I would look at the cable reel first.

Is this something i would have to de-energize the srs system in order for me to work safer around the wires?

If so what can I do to do so? Remove the negative post cable off the battery?

I haven't found another thread that involves with a 1-1 code that may have found the solution besides replacing the air bag unit.

remove battery negative and let car sit for 15 mins before going into the clockspring area.

Disconnecting the battery won't clear codes from the SRS control unit.

The tool is a simulator for the air bag. i've never held one in my hand so I can't tell you if it's more technical than this. To me it looks like a simple box with a built in resister (2 ohm) so you can plug it in, in place of the air bag to test the control unit and wiring to narrow down where the problem is.

The long flash/s represent the first digit and the short flash is the second.
So long, long, long, short short (made up) would be 3-2.

Good point right there.

This reel that you mention, this would be the air bag connector?
I tried following the wiring coming from under neath the dash towards the steering wheel setup. Haven't found any unusual wiring crossing or damage. All seems in good conditions. All is wrapped from factory.

Might have to look more closely and inspect it better

Is this tool purchasable? I'm wondering if it could be possible in using an ohm meter in finding out any resistance through the connections? Or would be it deploy the air bag system with the battery disconnected?

Thanks clearing up the code reading. was it able to see the video for you guys?

Thanks for the advice guys

Will try to post as much as information as possible
