Major oil burning in VTEC GSR
I have a 1995 GSR with unknown miles swapped in to a CRX. The person I got the engine from said it had 140k when he bought it and he drove on it.. I see a big cloud of smoke when I go through the gears in vtec, and it burns about a quart per 500 miles if not more. There isnt a cloud when I start it up in the morning, but I tested compression with 225-230-230-220.
Was just wondering if it was valve seals, a $16 job, or pistons, a $1000 job.
Feel free to ask any questions, I will respond promptly, thanks for the help.

Have you cleaned the pcv yet? Id start there- pull it and spray it out with carb/intake cleaner. Clean out the throttle body, too. Ill bet they're both dirty w/that mileage. Have you pulled the spark plugs and looked @ top of pistons for wetness? If one is noticeably more wet than others, that's the cylinder burning the oil.

My car did this, pulled the pistons out and the ring land for the oil ring was full of carbon, so it couldnt do its job. while I was in there I did intake valve seals as well. Solved my problem.
As B_Swapped93 said, do a wet compression test as well and see if compression goes up.
