Default Swaping Stock Wheel Studs for Extended Studs

So I bought a set of rims for my 2001 V on Craigslist. Bolt pattern checked out, backspacing checked out; I got my tires mounted, painted the rims and went to go put them on only to find out.......the wheel studs don't clear . I've been researching extended wheel studs for the V's but can't seem to come up with anything definite so I'm turning to you guys. So my questions to you are; Do you HAVE to remove the hub to change wheel studs? some things I've say yes, others say no. Also does anybody have extended studs they can reccomend? I need something about 1/2" longer than stock. Any help is appreciated guys.

yes the hub has to come out. ARP makes extended studs. When you remove the hub, the wheel bearing is toast.

Well it looks like I'll try to find another solution. Has anyone ever used E/T ultra mag lugnuts like these? http://www.brandsport.com/grla-21138etxl.html The lugnuts I have now only grab 1/8" of the stud but these seem like they'd grab 5/8". would that be safe?
