Default Crv 2008, P0341, what to do?

I have engine light on and sometimes VSA and ! light comes on. When I restart the car VSA and ! light go away , but engine light remains on. After scanning I find out that code is p0341. I took the car to honda dealership and they diagnosed faulty VTC actuator and possible loose timing chain and recommended to replace timing chain , tensioner, vtc solenoid and valve gasket with total cost around $1600.
Car mileage is 114 000 km, and I have regularly changed oil. Since engine light is on the only difference that I noticed while driving is that sometimes it takes longer to accelerate that before. It is really hard to believe that timing chain is loose for this mileage and the fact that I did change oil regularly.
Could it be that only Cam shaft sensor is bad?
Would anyone have any good advice where to go from here?
Thank you very much for your help!

I don't know if many people that frequent this specific forum will have many answers. Most people in the CRV forum on honda-tech deal with the old timing belt drive dinosaur engines.

google your code for your car here's a interesting one I found on a TSX which i think also runs a K24 http://tsx.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=753873 that guy said it was fixed by replacing the VTEC Actuator.

These guys are having slightly more interesting problems like timing being off and bad cam gears. http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=756685

Why couldn't honda just stick with belts?
