Default Cleaning EGR Plate

Hello there, since the weather is getting nicer and the emissions control test is coming up in a few months for my car, I want to make sure its in perfect condition! Not that I don't think it will pass.. Anyways, I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX. I would like to remove the EGR valve, clean that up a bit and replace the gasket. I would also like to remove the EGR plate but that involves taking the fuel injectors out and replacing the o rings. After cleaning the plate and the ports, I'll be getting a new gasket for the plate but would I also have to get new o rings for the fuel injectors if it is necessary to remove them? If so, what lube do you recommend for the injector o rings? I've heard gasoline, silicone grease, motor oil, Vaseline, KY jelly, automatic transmission fluid, etc, etc. I would imagine ETCG would use a thin layer of silicone paste? Also, Is there anything I should know before performing this job of cleaning the EGR? Thank you all very much!

Default Re: Cleaning EGR Plate

I personally use petroleum jelly or vasoline to install injector rings without tearing them....
