Default Cooling system question(s).

Was just wondering my t-stat got stuck closed several times lately so i ditched it and am currently running with out. But before open loop is mentioned my ECU runs constant open loop thus running off the chips fuel maps gas millage is fine tho(no primary o2 even). So other than that any reason not to get one asap i'll get a new one sooner or later but till then.

2nd my rad fan doessn't come on, jumped the fan switch plug comes on...do i replace the switch in the case(thing on the t-stat housing). thanks

The 2nd fan only comes on when the AC is on, so unless you run the AC, it won't come on.

Overcooling is the main issue with running with no tstat.

Over cooling is not a good thing. Go buy a new t stat and install it asap.

Have no AC so that's how it's supposed to function(not come on at all ?). will grab new t-stat when in town then I guess.

Strange, in my 95, they both fire up simultaneously w/o a/c on. And, no, they're not rigged. They're plugged straight into the factory relays.
Op- I would test the fan relay before testing the switch by t-stat. Or you can ghetto wire your fans to acc key position by bypassing the relay with a jumper wire.

doh I thought you were saying your 2nd fan doesn't come on.

But you meant 2nd, your fan doesn't come on.

Yes, replace your fan switch.

I've always thought the condenser fan (driver side) comes on when your car gets really hot/ or the a/c is on?

if they still wire them like they used to, it has a module that only lets the second fan come on after a certain temp,

with the t stat out, the fan won't come on. ever.
with the t stat in now, get it hot. see if the fan comes on now.

also, just so you know, ECT still plays a huge role in fuel delivery. regardless of being in open loop or not

fan doesn't come on with it hot only when the fan switch plug is jumpped. ECT sensor is brand new and i fixed that running rich problem.

have yet to bleed the coolant sys fully properly just squshed the hoses a few times. temp gauge sits under half bu a bit is that normal

Replace the fan switch, make sure you burp it properly, and replace your rotor and cap. Try not driving it so much, because your rotor and cap are completely shot. I've never actually seen one wear out that badly in person (I always replace them at the first sign of ANY wearing out, which is usually more often than most people would replace them)

In front of radiator(I know a stupid place) on drivers side hanging off top of core support. I know you don't have a/c. I was trying to say that both of mine turn on @ same time w/o(without) a/c on. I've never had just 1 activate on my 95.

Pull one that works from another car they're a common relay. Usually under hood in that fuse box. Swap it and see if it'll activate. I don't have my car handy r/now, sorry.

if the fan comes on with the switch jumped, the relay, and everything besides the switch, is fine.
if the fan isn't coming on with the engine hot, the switch is bad.
