Does the CEL come on then go off, or does it stay on? What chassis are you putting this motor in? Have you used a multimeter to verify power is getting to the distributor? Do you have your plug wires in the correct order? Did you replace the cap and rotor?

If its rebuilt, its likely that something is unplugged. Go at this logically. If theres no spark, check the cables and the dizzy. If there is no electricity going to the dizzy, check the power going TO it. Check the relays and fuses, and then the wires. You gotta work backwards and figure out where the electricity is not coming from.

I fought with a no spark for days on a pathfinder. Replaced the distributor thinking that was it, but it still wouldn't spark. Turned out to be the distributor cap, which was only 2 months old. Check everything, from the plugs, all the way back to the ECM.

make sure your grounds are properly on the motor. I had this issue a few years ago, and after a long day and night workin on the car, couldnt figure it out. I tried different distributors, and no luck. went out the next morning and i found that i didnt tighten the ground to the thermostat housing. after fixing that, it fired right up.

I remember once I slipped a screw on the distributor cap past the distributor and wouldn't start. I almost broke the car when I was 17
