Default 2000 CRV WANT TO UPGRADE MOTOR

So I have a 2000 CRV and it was driven overheated until the motor was crackling. Since i need to replace the motor, I want to take advantage and upgrade. What do you guys suggest? Should I put in same motor or is there a more powerful and faster motor i can put on this?

can those work on a automatic transmission well? Will it need a lot of modification to fit in?

mods/fab work: yes I would imagine...and pretty sure u can swap and auto if you want...anything is possible with $$but couldn't really tell ya what exactlly..it's do-able and has been done that's for sure prob. can go over to k20a.org and check that site out I guess? or pay big money for a shop to fab and do the swap for u lol..but like I said if I had bought mines for cheap I would have had it done or already done it and be able to tell ya but nope so sorries and GL

Okay how about we be more realistic here.

Unless you have a endless supply of money K is probably out of your wheelhouse.

You can run any B series motor in that car no problem. Here's your most realistic options.

B20Z or JDM B20B would be a direct swap. You'd have to do the CKF trick to get the JDM engine to not throw a code for the CKF sensor that JDM engines don't have (simple 5 minute wire splice job)

You could boost the engine for more power but a lot of time and money will go into it being reliable

B20Vtec basically you put the head of something like a GSR on the engine. There's good info on this out there on the web (you'd need a B20 block, vtec head, bunch of other ****, new ECU, etc etc)

Dropping something like a B18 in there (see the ITR crv on here) they will have more power in the revs but will lose the low end torque that a B20 has.

Another guy on here is building one with a H22 in it probably would be the less likely of the one you'd want to do. mainly because of customization youd have to do.

Basically anything other than the engine you pulled out of it is going to cost money and be time consuming. Good luck with your V. I got one from a friend in your same condition and I just decided to get a 99-00 B20B from hmotors it's running great.

This V is in dominican republic so dont know if the mechanics out there have much knowledge on modding for a k series or h22 so i think im gonna stick with the B20Z and vtech it. DO you guys have links to parts and details of what i need for this?

Just pull the engine and have it checked out before buying a replacement.

If it was just overheated, then a new headgasket and head shave should only be needed. (besides misc gaskets, and tune up parts) which should be alot cheaper then swapping in a replacement.

I just built a B20 on the side using YCP ITR replica pistons, shaved head, resized rods w/ ARP hardware, Crane 101-0016 cams, etc etc..

My comp ratio is 11.1:1 area (+/- .1) and it should benefit with more torque and gas mileage.
