94 vtec ECU question........
Last year I bought a JDM 1994 Vtec (H22A) engine and auto transmission to replace my North American Prelude engine (F22A1) and auto transmission. The "mechanic" who installed it, told me I didn't to replace my ECU or my existing wiring harness. HOWEVER, it has never run right and the check engine light will usually come on within 5 minutes. In addition the car idles roughly.
1) I would like to know if this is the proper ECU:

2) Would I need any kind of adapters?
3) Is this something easy that I can do, or should I bring it to a mechanic?
Thanks for suffering my nube-ness!

You will need that ecu and a tcu for the tranny you're using. I'm assuming he ran all the necessary wires for the swap. My guess is that he didn't.
First thing you should be doing is pulling the engine codes to see what it is that's the problem.

Im pretty sure the jdm one is OBD0 and you are OBD1 as my 94 vtec is. So you will need a OBD1 jumper to OBD0. Ive heard of people having similar problems with the auto's and not having the proper ecu.
Ive heard of people boosting the auto's, so I know they can be tuned. Why not just get a different USDM OBD1 civic ECU and have it remapped for the H and auto trans? Would solve that problem and would give you a tune-able ECU for dynoing.
