Default 92 Civic - need a replacement transmission and a faster car

I drive a 92 civic dx hatchback.
I've found myself looking for a new transmission because the stock one is too far gone. It is an automatic, all stock.
Anyone know of any good websites to check out? It would be much appreciated.

Also, I graduate in a month, and I want to make my car faster. I would like to swap the motor and transmission. Definitely want a 5 speed. What are good motors to look at?
I am also thinking of buying a late 90's early 00's Prelude that needs a few things.
Should I buy the Prelude and build it, or build the Civic?
Any advice and/or opinions appreciated.

There is a sales forum here. Gearboxes for that engine is probably more or less free. I had to throw my perfectly working one in the garbage since no one wanted it
Civic build FTW! Buy yourself a B16 engine

Man , you should have recycled it.

The aluminum alone would be maybe 30 - 40 bucks

If your going to start building either car, you should start with the CIVIC.

Parts are much cheaper and it weighs a hell va lot less

Its not that hard to do a manual conversion. Just go to a junk yard and pull the clutch pedal assembly and all the hard lines that run from the fire wall to the trans for the clutch.

Also do not forget to get an aftermarket mount for the auto trans mount. ( the mount bracket sits up higher and it needs to be moved back. When i did mine yrs ago, there were no special mounts. So i had to chizzle the body mount off and weld a new one that came from a manual trans civic.

Other than spicing the neutral safety switch and getting a manual gauge cluster there really isnt much else. Its pretty straight forward.

So your telling me you came on a honda forum and was unable to find any information that might answers these question! Or your using youth as an excuse for being to lazy to do the research yourself?

Graduate from what? College? High school? Do you have a job right now? Can you afford two cars that need an unknown amount of work that you clearly can't do yourself?

I'm graduating from high school. I have a full time job waiting on me, and my dad and step-mom own the company's. My dad's is The Leak Detective, a trim shop. My step-mom's is Kelly's Automotive, a mechanic shop.
I know what my car needs. The other is my cousin's car, that sits behind my dad's shop.

I love my Civic, and I don't want to get rid of it. I just thought I might be able to make a little money off of the Prelude. It needs a motor, transmission, and wheels. Maybe a couple of other things.
P.S Please don't reply if you're just going to make assumptions.

Their company's what? You didn't finish that sentence.

Oh, is that all?

Or else what? Keep in mind your posts to this point have provided many, many context clues that you have no idea what you're doing.

This is my '92 DX hatch. Finally got some pictures up.
My dad drove the car for about two years or so, and then he gave it to me. It's not much, but compared to what it looked like then it's practically a build.
The motor was replaced about 20,000 miles ago, the old one kept blowing the head gasket. It has 105,881 miles on it.

What's been done:
ICW Racing wheels (Used)
Full custom interior (seats front to back, black vinyl headliner, the trim pieces on the dash have been died body color)
It has a 760 watt pioneer pushing a Kenwood Comp. 15" with an Alpine radio.
Ebay header and hi-flow cat.
It was repainted and my dad relocated and replaced the antenna, it goes on a VW I do believe.
(All this was done by my dad, aside from the system.)

^ This tip is between 2-3" on each side, I've never measured them. If I got a smaller tip would give me a little more power? Someone told me if the tip is too big you can lose power, but I don't know how true this is though.
---------------
I definitely want to get some new wheels, too. As you can see whoever had them before me couldn't keep off of the curb. They're dirty and stained, and don't look so good once you get up close.
The current wheels are 195/55R15, and I want to get 16's and go up to 205, and get some lowering springs. I'm not sure how the profile effects the car. If someone could help me out I would much appreciate it.
If there is something on here about it, I'm sorry. I'm trying to keep it all in one post.

^Lastly, what would be a good way to go about getting this dent out?
The check arm in my door was broken when I got it, and one day I opened my door to get out and it grabbed the panel.

these questions get asked at least 3 times a week, when basic knowledge of the internet will answer these questions for you.

i understand but still no excuse for lack of trying. i myself have spent countless hours trying to determine the answers to these very questions prior to starting my project.

there was a post on here about the advantages and disadvantages of all the swaps, i can't seem to find it though. as far as the trans goes i would wait. Swap it all at once. focus on getting everything else right.

One of those big suction cups might pull some of that dent out. Fenders are like $50 but then you are looking at paint.
You can sand and polish or paint all or part of those rims.
Try to find a transmission in a junk yard. If the car is wrecked in the back or it was the engine that died the trans might still be good. If you buy one off a private party you are asking for someone else's trouble.
You could try flushing your current tranny fluid. Fluid level and type are 2 of the most important things about an auto trans. Use genuine honda fluid only.
What makes you think you need a new trans?
