Removed oil pan to get new bung welded

is it ok to leave the bottom end exposed for less than a day? or should I be spraying something on the internals?

Everything should be coated in oil so as long as it isn't in a dusty environment, you should be fine.

As said. The oil will be dipping down for some hrs at lest.
