99 si motor mounts
hey guys,
I've looked through the stickies but I'm right in the middle of replacing the motor mounts on my newly acquired 99 civic si. I bought the prothane kit 8-1906 for the civic si but where in the blazes does the square insert go? thanks in advanced and sorry for the noobish question.

I just put it in my car and took it right back out. Its not work the vibration , trust me. Just get a Engine dampener.
You will have to cut the lip on one side of each mounts ( with a pair of dikes) to actually get it to in. And a hammer and lube wouldnt hurt. But trust me, the vibration is not worth it when you put the rear and trans mount in too.
I have the inserts in the trans, rear and the two front torque mounts and ive been too dam lazy to put my dampener in. But trust me you feel a big diff with just the rear and front two t. mounts. alone.
thanks so much. I guess it's a good thing them because it looks like someone tried to take it off before and stripped the head on one of the bolts so I will just change the two I have them order some torque mounts next week. What ones would you recommend?
They are 43.00 shipped on ebay.
Comes with the rear mount and the front two torque mount.
More than likely your Front Torque mounts are ripped to sht , DO NOT, replace the mounts, just put the inserts in them. They will be like new but better.
Also, when replacing the rear, Trim the left insert ( left if your looking at the car from the front )
Trim the left insert edge in the back where the bolt will go in. If you dont you wont be able to get the bolt in. If you dont you will have to take it right back out. You will have to do a lot of wiggling to get them in but you will be able to get both in without taking the mount out completely. Just take the 3 bolts out and pull up to where you can fit them in. Also put the left insert in first.
Sht i just reminded myself that i have get the bolt and put it in. I only have two bolts in the back.
Also , with the Energy Sus. Trans mount, you will have to take a exacto knife and cut out the bottom rubber (the smaller rubber piece)of the trans mount itself. So you will be able to get the inserts in. After you cut the bottom rubber out take a rubber mallet or hammer and bang the inserts in.

Yes they are. I would still recommend hard rubber over poly any day BUT I do not know if Hardrace just sells the torque mounts. And some will come along and say that they really aren't that necessary but I've seen pictures of what happens when they aren't installed.
hey i know this is kind of dead but i wanted to offer this up. what about the DIY solid mounts where you mix both parts and pour the urethane into the stock mounts? they make 60A 80A and 95A.
