What is the BEST street tire??
Hey guys, I am going to be replacing tires soon and I would like to get some opinions. First off, I currently have 205/50/15 S-03s on my factory Si wheels. I am buying some 16 inch wheels and need tires for that size. What size can I run on them so I dont change my overall diameter? Also, what size would give me the same effect of the tire sticking past the rim alittle that 205/50/15s give? 205/45/16? Does anyone have pics?
Anyways, BEST street tire. Tire will be used every day on crappy Oklahoma roads. Comfort and tread life are important issues to keep in mind as is price. I need a tire that grips well in dry and wet conditions. I unfortunately do not have the chance to race on the weekends, so auto X is not a concern. I have heard alot about the Falken Azenis (sp?). Kumho 712's? I think it will most likely be between these two tires as they are probably the best bang for the buck. I would like to keep the price in the range of these two (~$80/tire). If anyone has had experience with both tires, I would like to hear from you.
Ah, found a pic. I dont know if these are 16s or not, but I like the look of the tire sticking past the wheel a little like this:
Plus it gives some curb protection.
If anyone else has pics of 16s, please post pics.

The 16s I am getting weigh 13.5 pounds. I dont think the inch size increase will make a difference after I go turbo.
Anyways, what would you guys recommend?

Come on guys, I need opinions here. Any opinions on the Yokohama Parada Spec-2's?
Here is the link to their tirerack rating:

Anyone have experience with Pirelli?

parada spec 2 is the best option for the rim size you have chosen.
most here like 205 wide azenis on a 15" rim.
best street tire out there is the barely legal barely usable Yokohama Advan AO32R

I didn't think that Advans were available in the US. Are they?
Any reccomendations for a 15x7 rim? Something fairly stock in diameter, with a littel extra width for curb-protection.
For a 93 CX hatch.

I have heard from several people that they are not that great in the rain. We have rain here all the time so wet traction is important.
The Yokohama Ao32R is the best street tire, but they are more than $100 each. The best tire is the Ao38R in Jaoan, I don't think it's legal in the U.S. but so a google search and check out the tread on that tire, if it rained your car might just slide away.
But on the more realistic tire suggestion, go with the Falken Azenis, while the Yokohamas are good tires, you will be much happier with the Azenis, but the Falkens will wear at slightly more rapid of a pace compared to the Yokohamas.

i think the bridgestone potenzas are the best, i got those on my CTR, real good grip, not very noisy, plus rain and dry traction is good, except rain alittle no traction control, meaning 5th gear skid.
Big difference between the Azenis and the 712's. Azenis are autox tires, and if you are concerned about treadwear or comfort/road noise, go with something more reasonable (this was hard for me to accept). Now I'm leaning toward 712's for my next set. They get very good reviews on tirerack.com, and they have a nice low treadwear rating of 280. Under $80 per tire for 16's. Another option you might go with are the Yokohama AVS ES100's. Similar characteristics.
I don't have any experience with these tires, unfortunately. I'm switching to 16's myself, and I race autox. I have a 93 Prelude.

Holy crap, your piping hangs really low to the ground! What kind of exhaust is that?
i happen to love my Dunlop SP Sport FM 901's.
they grip very well on dry pavment and pretty good in the rain...........alot of people complain about road noise but i dont notice any more noise with these tires compared to others........and they also stick out of the edge of the lip on the rim just how you like it.................great tire for the price!

I have some Road King Intimidators...I had never heard of them before, but they came on my car (used) and are pretty damned good. I believe they are inexpensive. With the exception of really dropping the clutch, I only scrub a little in the top of first and no where else, even with the turbo! Very good wet traction as well...
