I have a 97 accord with a f22b2. Recently (4000 miles ago) i replaced my timing belt. When removing the valve cover oil was all on the spark plugs and wires. At the time it didn't burn a drop between changes. We re-installed the valve cover and put sealent on the upper spark plug tube gasket. I did not replace any gaskets in the valve cover but, with the sealent it has kept the oil out of the tube (visibly) but has since started to burn oil. What im asking is before I go buy a valve cover gasket kit, would the spark plug tube seals be reasonable suspicion?

 

They would be if they were leaking and your spark plugs were lose allowing oil to leak into the cylinders. How many miles are on the engine and what color is the smoke?

Could be timming is off

 

engine currently has 217,000. It also doesn't smoke or leak anything either. Regarding the timing, it runs like a top and I've checked multiple times and i'm fairly certain its spot on.

 

You have a secondary set of o-rings underneath the rocker arms. Those leaks which is why your spark plug holes are filled with oil. Replace those seals as well, and you should be good to go.

 

and PCV are very cheap.....replace it when you do the gasket.
