Dirt and grime collecting on intake hose and TB (pic)
Just popped the hood on my automatic 2002 accord ex coupe (ULEV VTEC F23A4) today to check my fluid levels. Something caught my eye and now it's got me pretty worried. I have a CAI installed and I noticed some dirty sludge **** that has started to accumulate around the hose that connects from the pipe to the valve cover. Looks almost like a oil. Its also around the throttle body too. The car drives ok for the most part, although the motor bogs down a little bit when coming to a complete stop (almost like when your driving a manual and your about to let the clutch out and kill the car) that's the best way I can describe it. What the hell is going on and how serious is it??
There shouldn't be oil coming from the valve cover into the intake tube like that. That piece of hose that is being used is not compatible with oil. As you can see from the oil that is soaking right through it. Should replace it with a new piece that is the proper diameter and length. In saying that this is not a critical component so to each his own!
What is the condition of your PCV valve? Do you have it hooked up to the intake manifold?
This can be a sign of a clogged or inoperable PCV or it could also be caused by excessive blow-by gases in the crank case. Causing oil to be pushed out of that intake tube.

I immediately fixed that **** and tightened it back down really snug. I don't know if the bog down is related to these vacuum hoses or what.

It's time to replace all of your coolant hoses and the pcv hoses as well. Get a new pcv valve while you're at it and a pcv grommet.
Don't buy any more hoses that are strictly made for vacuum and attempt to use them in the pcv system.

They are feeling pretty soft, but haven't gotten to the point where the hose clamps are cheese grating them yet lol
Oil will destroy rubber hose. So thats why it's soft.
I would still replace the PCV. Get a Honda one for your model as it's got the correct flow rate. Don't go with aftermarket.
