Icon2 Ignition Timing problem

Okay so I have a 92 eg hatch si with a B16a2 OBD1 swap I just got the car about a month or 2 ago and the guy was running it with a B18 LS distributor (wtf) so I got a new one and when I went to set the timing, my timing gun was showing that it had to be at full advance for the marks to line up at 16 degrees +2 or whatever it is. I'm fairly new to the honda game but I hear this is really bad for your motor and can melt your pistons. Help me!

Thanks- Nick

If you are able to set the timing to spec, then you're good to go.

Alright so it doesn't matter that it's fully advance then?

Did you jump the service connector as well? What was the procedure you used to set it?

No, I put the crank barring and harmonic balancer at tdc, turned on my car and let it idle for about 5 minutes.. Hooked the timing gun to the number 1 spark plug on the distributor and just rotated it until the red line lined up with the point on my timing belt cover

The engine must be fully warmed up and the service connector must be shorted/jumped when you adjust the ignition timing. See FAQs sticky for diagram.
