Stock OEM parts bro. User the OEM Honda plugs, wires, cap, rotor, recommended oil weight, keep on top of oil changes, use good gas not the cheapest you can find. Use Chevron Texaco, shell, circle k, etc.

The gas you use makes a huge difference. Fuel filter, change that to.

An intake system doesn't improve mileage, it really kinda robs you of power on a stock engine, just sounds bad *** and like you have lots of power. Same with an exhaust system. You lose too much back pressure cutting into your power and mileage.

Agree, along with running good gas, run premium octane as well, if you figure your mileage with low octane and then again after a tank of premium, you will most likely find that you get many more miles per tank on premium, easily offsetting the few dollars at the pump to buy it. 99% of the time it is worth doing., also track your mileage, when you see it change significantly it is a good indicator that something needs to be serviced, not nec. repaired, tracking your mileage can be a great way to reduce fuel consumption and get more from your vehicle

I wouldn't recommend premium gas in his car. It doesn't run a high enough compression to effectively or efficiently burn all of the fuel actually causing worse gas mileage (i spent a year and a half personally testing different fuels and fuel grades cost me a fortune but i have made it back three times over in the next two years)

Along with what everyone said above, I'd add a new PCV valve and run your tires a few PSI higher than what's written on your door jamb. I changed out the original PCV valve on my 02 Accord w/166k miles and though the old one was still in good shape (not clogged, still rattled a little), the new valve did increase my MPGs a little and smoothed out my idle. I also run my tires at 33 PSI versus the 30 called for by Honda (which is too low to begin with IMO). The effect on ride quality is negligible but again my MPGs have increased. Throughout it's life, my car has seen no-name gas and gas from "Big Oil." Over the past several months, I decided to run only name brand gas from the places that claim their detergents are all that and a bag of chips. I've tracked my mileage and consumption each time I filled up and it was obvious where I got gas from made a difference on my MPG. I'm going to keep running good quality gas and may give Chevron's fuel system cleaner a whirl when my next oil change is due.
