'92 Civic LX, 1.6L, 5 speed manual, 240K miles

Issue#1

One day the car was loud, I look down and there is a split in the exhaust pipe maybe 9 inches past the resonater, towards the rear. Split in 2.

I think this part is called a "B-Pipe"? Can someone confirm that for me? Also, could someone confirm for me how much I could expect to pay to take my car to a shop and have them fix this (without welding it, I mean a new part). Would it be alot cheaper to buy this part off the internet and just take it to a shop and tell them to fix it? I heard there were issues with getting the screws off for this? Any previous experience and insight into this would be appreciated.

Issue #2

Battery starts and runs fine, however, if I turn the car off and leave the lights on for even 2 minutes, it won't start back up without having to be jumped. I know it should be able to hold a couple minutes with the lights on, so what is happening here and what do you think is the solution?

Battery has dead cell.

 

so, buy a new battery then?

 

No need to start a post for any of these issues. Take you exhaust issue to a couple of muffler shops and get estimates. Easy

For the battery, take it to get tested at an autoparts store. Easy. Hell, if the battery is that old then get it replaced.

 

Also have the alternator tested.
