Building an engine~
I'm finally getting around to getting all the parts I need to replace my assploded engine in my car (rod bearing's over lapped w00t)
It's gonna be an LS engine, b18 bored to 81.5mm
I'm thinking
Supertech Pistons (stock compression)
Eagle rods
ARP main studs
And my built head
JGE 303 cams
Rocket Motorsports dual valve springs and snap fit titanium retainers
stock valves
Decent port job.
HOWEVER, I have one question. Because these cams breath life over 8000RPM, I want this engine to be safe to hit 9000RPM (I'm batshit crazy)
I've been reading up on girdles, and the general populous says that a girdle isn't needed, and in some cases, can cause problems. ALSO no one has seen a failure from NOT having a girdle at high rpm.
So I'm thinking that ARP main studs should be safe at those rpm levels.
By the way, even though my rods and pistons will be brand new, I'm going to have the machine shop balance them to ensure they're all perfect.

with it balanced perfect, a girdle isnt really necessary unless you get to high compression situations. ie turbo nos or high comp na. ive seen 300hp+ systems run just fine forever without one. rpm become less apparent to the motor as balancing goes up. just make sure you degree your cam.
