What is the purpose of the hoses that run antifreeze to the firewall?

it runs to the heater core so you can have heat

So my heater doesn't work so is it ok to just try and bypass it??

just don't drive it thru Iowa in the middle of winter lol. you might freeze to death.

so you're going to bypass an issue instead of fixing it?

your heater probably doesn't work because your heater core is probably shot. try replacing your heater core, and your heater might work again.


saying that, yes. you can bypass it. just don't freak out when you cut the hose and the next thing you know you have radiator fluid all over your carpet.

probably only thing broke is the plastic clip which holds the temp control **** cable selector. once it snaps, it no longer opens and closes the valve to the heater core down on the firewall engine side.

you can loop both of the hoses together, since my CRX lacks the heater i completely blocked them too off.
