Default B20C1

swapping in a B20B with a GSR head into my hatch, 91si

probably going to use a GSR or B16 trans to match with it,

buying the B20B as a full long block with a burnt valve, what all engine parts need to be changed? I know the B20 intake both wont fit under my hood or bolt to the GSR head but what else?

any unforeseen problems with this set up or should I use a different piston (B18 pistons) also would it be relatively safe to drive with a base map tune?

the head revs to 8K but the B20 only revs to 6500, where should specs like the rev be set at?

B18 pistons won't fit a b20
B18=81.00 bore
B20b=84.00 bore

If your keeping stock rod bolts I wouldn't take it over 7500
I know plenty of people who took it to 8000 then A couple months later got a rod knock.
What camshafts are you running, from my info I've gathered biggest you can run on stock b20b pistons is itr/ctr. I'd advise getting a fuel pressure regulator, adjustable cam gears, and figure out what your gonna do about crankcase ventilation. I'd just get it tuned right off the bat have it running 100% b20v is a hybrid motor, everyone gives it **** because of a bad rep of knocking/spun bearings. Switch out to gsr/itr water & oil pump. Get arp rod bolts & rs machine pistons if you can= easy 200hp

been use to D series(D12-D16 all 75.00bore), I can repair B series but ive never much built or modded a B series,

would like to make it all reliable, does anyone make a high comp piston for the b20? but still run on pump easily? don't care to run 93 as I already do in my Hondas and bike but I don't want race fuel.

im not sure yet which B20B I will be getting as its at a local Honda-swap shop that normally deals in JDM and K-swap engines,

the 98+ had a higher compression, what where the differences? pistons or deck, ect?

also do you have any idea what the comp would be on a B20B with a 97 GSR head (stock gsr cams) or if the head can be decked/milled to bump the comp slightly or would it cause interference?

will have ARP rod bolts and head studs, I know the B20 rod to stroke ratio is poor for high revving so where would be a safe stop?

I am hoping to have a set up I can find a base tune for until I get it tuned (bone stock B20 gsr head)

+1 I am currently doing my b20v build and i will deff be getting high compressin pistons and rods. idk what your budget is but deff pick up the oil and water pumps. and even with the pistons and rods i wouldn't honestly take it over 8300, 8500 rpm MAX in my opinion. depending on your budget is what is really going to determine your power numbers and long life reliability depending on how you beat on the motor consistanly .

I'm running B20 VTEC with 11.5 Wisco, Eagle rods, S2 Pro2 cams on 93 pump. With a awesome tuner, Howard at RLZ made 226. Use good parts and good tuner. (That is what works for me.)

Good luck on your build.

B20B bottom end, GSR (97 B18C1) head,
stock internals and valve train.
GSR pump's, do I need the oil pickup or pan as well or whats the setup with the oil?

anything else? not going for a race car, just a quick DD,

safe rev to 72 or 75? happy enough with that I was just curious where the B20 would meet max output, don't much care to rev past it.

thanks for the info guys, lets see how it goes.

well when you take it to your tuner just see where it makes power to and just cut it back a few hundred rpm's and keep it safe and don't beat the **** out of it everyday lol

+1 A lot of good info here on how to build an LSV / B20V.
