Default Bosal exhaust pipe differences?

So i ordered a new Bosal muffler and resonator pipe through Advanced Auto Parts. Found through Bosal's site what part #'s I needed and ordered them.

What was delivered to me were alternative parts that are still exact fit replacements but I am hoping someone here can clarify for me what the differences are. AAP support is no help.

I ordered Bosal # VFM-1729 and VFM-1728 and in actuality, Bosal part #'s 284-021 and 281-861 were delivered. According to Bosal these are exact fit for my car and the only descriptive difference I can tell is that my original VFM parts were "Valve Line Items". What does that mean?

These parts are also priced higher and so I before I fit them on the car I was hoping to find out what some of the differences may be.

Thanks for the help!

The EX, LX and wagon model exhaust pipes are basically the same. The differences have mainly to do with the sound. They all fit the same except the wagons tailpipe is different.

Someone correct me if im wrong, the only reason i'm saying is I had an EX resonator on my LX wagon and it worked no problem.

Its not 'valve' its value. "Value Line". The Value line only has a one year warranty.
Some of their non VFM parts, such as '281-861', have a limited lifetime warranty.

AAP won't know the specifics, they are merely a dealer. Contacting BOSAL direct would be the best.

lol the parts they sent you are more in price so I feel it's safe to say you got hooked up phat :p

I would just throw em on and call it a day since you said you got word from Bosal that they are the same fitment.

My confirmation of the exact fit comes from the above diagram...tried contacting Bosal for product support but I guess I keep contacting the wrong facilities...they all seem to just be primary manufacturing.

As for "Value Line Item".....I guess it could help if I could read! Thanks for that clarification.

Just ordered the exact donut gasket part number above (256-305) that will seal the resonator pipe to the muffler. My spare donut was to large and didn't fit snug. I hope these things come in varying sizes! This fitting is interesting, it almost looks like after the flange bracket there was a second pipe fitting attached and flared over the base pipe. Never seen this before, but then again my experience in exhaust replacement and knowledge is limited at best

Honda uses that style of exhaust gasket fitting. It keeps the gasket centered and squared to the pipe while you assemble everything. Very handy.
