Default Air Leaking??Loosing Compression??

hey team, i have a f22b2 all stock. ive went to do a f22b1 sawp but that head was having problems, so i routed back to the 16 valve. i put the head on torque it down, re timed everything to exacts!. Before i went to start it, i manually cranked the engine from the crankshaft pulley and keep hearing air being pushed out. ive gotten all cylinder compression tested and their reading 150. I tried starting it a few times and as it rolled over i heard a backfire.
Any suggestions?? my onli thought was its coming from my intake manifold.

So you did a b1 head swap and then went back to the b2 head? It sounds like your timing is off if it's pushing air our the intake.

If you have 150psi in all four cylinders that suggests to me that your valves are not bent and your head gasket is fine. Double check your timing. Never hurts. Especially make sure your tensioner pulley is nice and tight

Gotcha! i was unsure on the oil pump timing, how it has a lil notch on the shaft, but then also have a marking of the face of the gear. i set it to the little line/slit on the face of the gear not the shaft. You what i mean??

I'm kinda lost. The engine backfires while running? When you turn it by hand it's normal to hear air being push out/sucked in.

Where was the air being pushed out? Throttle body? Spark plug holes?
