Some advice about weld colour?
Been TIG welding a while now.
I am happy with my welds as an overall but looking at some of the long term pros they are getting alot of blue colours in there welds, mine always come out gold'ish then maybe the end is blue as i gas off?
Now I know its not all about the colour but your know customers they love shiny stuff.
Can someone tell me why i never seam to get an overall colourful weld?
I have played with gas flow, trying keeping the weld cold, slowing down, speeding up etc

In terms of SS my understanding is that if you are moving the shielding gas off of the weld very quickly you end up with a blue color, but if the weld stays properly shielded, it will be a champagne color. I think for steel you want a shiny weld(if it's not shiny you're putting to much heat into the piece) that is salmon and baby blueish.
what if you wire wheel the pipe before welding to shine it up. Give that a try. It's almost like you aren't seeing the color your wanting as much because your canvas is less pretty before hand.
