Default D16y8 Block with D15y7 Head

The engine in my 94 Civic has a d16y8 block with a d15y7 head. My friend did the swap before I bought the car and I did not know how it was going to perform. The head was just rebuilt and I am just not starting to break it in. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get more HP out of the engine. It has a VTEC block and I am thinking about doing a full VTEC swap. Any ideas.

Your options for more power are boost it or swap it to a different motor.

BTW. Technically there is no such this as a VTEC block. VTEC is in the head.

Sure you can. You can boost a lawn mower if you wanted to.

And when I tell you that you will be wasting your time and money to get any more power out of that engine N/A, I know what i'm talking about.

Its a strong engine and tranny only having 90,000 miles on the block and tranny and the head just being rebuilt. I am going to see what I can get without charging for right now.

I had a 2000 honda civic that had just a straight d series 1.6 barley did any mods to it changed it to 5 speed, cat back exhaust, intake manifold, short ram intake, and a throttle body spacer and it surprised the hell out of me.

like everyone said go knock yourself out paying $50+ per hp gained. boosting is only about 25 per hp gained. a boosted D would knock your socks off.

Seriously why did you ask for suggestions and then just shoot everyone down when they told you what you didn't want to hear? Bolt-ons do nothing. you might get 5 horsepower at most. The only thing that you could bolt on is a new head with vtec and even that wont get you much.
