Default cleaning headlights

I want to clean up my headlights because they are starting to get that faded look. From what I can tell there are 2 silver clips, here:

That possibly hold the front plastic on?? Is it possible to take that off and clean the plastic?

Er, what? Go to any auto store and get a headlight restore kit. Or possibly to a SEARCH for a DIY because this has been asked before. No need to disassemble the lights.

Yeah, what grumblemarc said! You do not need to take them apart. The fading and yellowing happens on the outside not to mention that they are a pain to get apart and put back together. In addition to the clips, there is a sealant between the lens and the housing that requires heating the lights to get apart. Just grab a headlight restoration kit and follow the instructions. They work well.

Oh just because you've never had to clean them, means cloudyness or oxidation cannot occur on glass...

Are you saying you never washed your car?

Headlight resto kits are what you are looking for like marc said.

The good kits come with a drill attachment pad. That makes your life a lot easier than scrubbing by hand. Just an FYI once you start using those kits you'll have to go over it every so often. The wax they give you in the kit wears off after so long and requires you to do a one over on the headlight.
