EG6 hatch GSR issue help
Hello HT! I have a 1994 honda civic dx hatch with a b18c1 swap in it. Recently I had some work done in the fall (ring job, valves) about a week after it started smoking on me again. It is white smoke but it doesnt smoke very much now. Also when trying to start cold it will start and idle at about 1-200 rpms which is rediculously low and if i try and give it gas it bogs down and dies. This problem only occurs when the motor is COLD. after it gets warm it idles alright (maybe a little high) 1-1400 rpms. If theres any way I can help you guys understand let me know thanks for the help guys!!!
it helps maintain a idle of 1500~ while the engine is first started when cold
i have a cnc billet fitv block off on my h22 eg but i think on B series it makes them idle bad when cold if it is having a issue. Maybe somone with more B series experience can chime in.
Motors made post 99 dont use a fitv. It would idle bad when cold regardless of having a fitv or not if it had other issues. Since the op cleaned the iacv and helped a tad, I still think he needs to mess with the idle screw while the engine is cold. It almost sounds like the fitv is not opening when cold, then once its warmed up it sticks open.
I would also consider seeing how far off the tps is from correct calibration, that can contribute low idle, and bogging when gas is applied when cold.

Thanks for all the feedback! I just replaced my tps sensor and had it calibrated but I just checked the voltage again and it was at like .43v at the closed posistion. I realize thats off but is it off enough to be causing these issues? I just woke up im gonna go and see if i can maybe mess with the FITV and see if thatll help at all. Any other suggestions?

.43 isnt too far off of the .45-5.0.
I had bad cold starting bogging after the slightest tap of the throttle, checked the tps and was at .368 closed. Made a huge improvement calibrating it to spec, but car still likes to surge when cold randomly from time to time.

Thanks for that awesome picture helped me figure out I dont have one xD. So if its not the FITV its not the IACV (just cleaned and reinstalled) Should I try and adjust the idle screw? I mean it idles alright when warm would that mess up warm idle but fix the cold idle problem?

So you are experiencing the same start up issue or what? I just dont see how this is an unfixable problem. Theres got to be a reason for it starting so poorly. Maybe the starter could be the cause? Fuel system maybe??? I'm sick of this and I want it fixed!!!!!
