d16y8 machining questions?

Default d16y8 machining questions?

i bought a used y8 head bc my old one has maybe a bent valve or something cyl. 2 only got 90 for compression test

but anyways, all i know i shud be doing to my y8 head is machining it so it has flat surface
but is that all i shud be doing? or shud i be doing other things too? dont no much about machine terms so please explain it while giving me the name if you could
OR link me the term names?

Flatten it then check it for leaks and have it clean. That should be all that needs to be dont.
You can have the valve stem seals replaced and valve lash done since its out the car.

Have it hot tanked. Check the cam surfaces, I bought one that was all scared up like someone had run it out of oil.

Valve stem seals r on the bottom circle seal things right? Just to be clear
What is the valve lash?
And what is cam surfaces?

Is there anything I should replace? The seals on te bottom of the head isn't leaking but do look beat

I was just referring to where the cam sits on the head. You have to take it out anyways if you have any machine work done.
But if you have the machine shop pressure check it they can tell which seals need replaced, I had them put my seals in. Valve lash is pretty important tho, it they're out of line they will wear your valves/retainers much faster. Your manual should tell you how to set it though.
