Default Last minute questions before PCV replacement

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I want to change out the PCV valve on my 02 Accord 4-cylinder and know it is a pretty simple job. I don't have bad gas mileage or high oil consumption, but just want to swap it out for good measure since it's so cheap (and the car has 166k miles with original PCV). I just want to make sure I have the steps right:

-Locate PCV valve on rear passenger side of engine; it goes into the valve cover.
-Pull PCV valve straight out, use pliers to pull back clamp, and shimmy out the attached hose.
-Attach new PCV valve to the hose, re-clamp and pop assembly back into the engine.

Is it really that easy? I'm going to get the OEM valve from the dealership and call it a day. All I need is the PCV valve itself, right? No need for the grommet or anything since that just stays in the engine valve cover?

Thanks for the help in advance. Sorry if I sound like such an amateur!

Yes, it's that simple. Inspect the grommet for oil seepage and cracks, if no signs of those then get just the PCV. I always get the OEM Honda PCV as aftermarket has higher flow rate which will likely pull oil into the IM and burn which makes you think that you have worn out oil control rings.

So you're doing it right by going with a Honda OEM part.

over time the grommet gets hard...you can choose to replace that too if you want...might be a good idea since when you start messing with old things they tend to break

My PCV grommet just actually just broke. Stupid auto parts store had them in the "accessory" pack for $10.00. I have about five of the dang things laying around.. lol
