best 2.5 inch exhaust opinions
im just looking for opinions on what you guys think is the best 2.5 inch exhaust setup either custom or a complete kit on the market looking for best fitment and performance mainly and as close to a 2.5 inch inside diameter as possible. right now kteller is the one im mainly looking at but not settled on it
you have a welder or a lift where you can weld your own exhaust?
if not then get a bolton catback. save yourself headache of trying to fit it while on the jackstands.i like greddy evo2 if you can find it still.
top fuel is clean not raspy but stupid loud.
i bought from vsr exhaust with 18 inch resonator and vibrant muffler
spent 6 hours making it fit... and at the end of the day i could have just bought the top fuel again and saved about 200 bucks because it was still loud.
if you do get custom piping get 2 18 inch resonators. they will quiet down the noise

resonators do not muffle noise. Thats the mufflers job. Resonators help resonate the frequency of sound traveling through it.
Currently, I am not aware of a company that makes 2.5inch bolt on exhaust. They are all 60mm piping which is roughly 2.35inchs or something like that. I know thermal USE TO make true 2.5inch piping, but im not sure they are even around anymore.. IDK Maybe vibrant makes one? I know they make a 3inch exhaust.. again, idk.

no i dont plan on welding kteller has a bolt on version of their kit but it its still 60mm like all the rest then i cna pretty much get any other kit the skunk2 i had on my integra i liked but id like to try something diffrent. the problem with 3 inch although the 3 inch i have is ebay is that it hits my b-series linkage and the toda rep header sits pretty high so trying to push the exhaust up enought to bolt to the header is becoming a real pain id love to go 3 inch but im tired of trying to fit 3 inch exhaust on cars that the linkage gets in the way

like i found out when i ordered mine. piping is measured by outside diameter...
i was obsessing about that as well when i was looking for mine.
u not gonna find many (if any) inside diameter 2.5 pipes.
and yes double resonator helps its a muffler just called differently.
most of the exhausts on the market resonator and muffler are made similar design.
the one you talking about doesnt applly to most of or cars since it is tuned to each car and specific frequency that it cancels out.
but having 2 resonators does help as i personally heard it on a boosted subaru before and after install.
maybe your header is bent in or not welded properly. my ebay try-why replica is also on a high side i have to punch it in place because it gets stuck on exhaust studs and cat gets stuck on crossmember.

most aftermarket mufflers Straight through design are modeled after resonators , as they try and alter the frequency the exhaust note is producing. Its not effective and tends to cause huge amounts of rasp. Exhaust designed with the correct resonator and muffler sound awesome. Take the WS2 for example. Or the Greddy SP. THe only way a straight through muffler provides enough muffling ability is if it is capable of absorbing enough sound. This requires large amounts of sound deadening material, such as fiberglass, steel-wool, etc. Resonators have ridges and very small amounts of deadening material. The ridges help create pulse widths more desirable to the ear in hopes they cancel out any feedback. they are not designed for sound suppression.
Ok so we come to the conclusion that most exhaust out there thats not 3 inch are 60mm or 2.36 inch other than the skunk2 2.75 inch exhaust now my other question is would a 60mm exhaust restrict a 12.5:1 gsr with skunk2 tuner 2 toda rep header skunk2 intake mani 68mm throttle body
your car is going to sound like poop.. dont judge the sound of the exhaust right out of the box.. you need to drive it for a few days before you realize the true sound.. but its going to be loud!
when i bought my components the piping is 2.5 inch outside diameter
the muffler and resonator are 2.5 inch inside diameter so they slide on the pipe in case you using clamps and not flanges.
thats how they made so yes piping will be measured by outside diameter wether its 2 2.25 or 2.5 .

The rasp is horrible.. Ive had plenty of experience with skunk exhausts and the only cars they sound nice on are k motors.. I ve never been happy with any of them and the way they sound.. Im in no way trying to tell you what to do, if your happy with it, your ride.
That just sounds like a single cam to me. If your going to go with a straight through exhaust, its going to be loud under throttle. . Just the way its going to be. So you might as well go for the most power and get the 3 inch on your HC gsr motor. Then I have seen a setup with one long resonator and a large magniflow straight through muffler be nearly soundless at freeway speeds at cruising throttle. (3in). If you want somthing quiet, get somthing with a chambered muffler like the ws2. But its fairly restrictive.
my 3" with vibrant muffler and resonator is super quiet depending on how much i put my foot into it. drone at highway speeds is minimal and i routinely hear my intake over it.
i dont know. on MY setup i've never had anything smaller than 65mm, except the stock exhaust.
neither one was excessively loud at part throttle
