Engine.
Get a JDM H23A VTEC blue top. Has more power and torque across the powerband. Much more powerful than an H22A. But they only come in automatic though as they are from the JDM Accord SiR Wagon in Japan. So if you mate it to any H22 trans, you will see the full potential of this motor along with some nice engine mods.
Swap is simple. Get a Hasport or 93-96 Prelude timing belt side mount and the motor will bolt-in. For wiring, you want to get the same year engine to match your year Accord for simplicity. And everything will pretty much plugs in with a few wiring extended. For your 97 Accord, you'll need to get the rare USDM 96 H22A1 ECU as it doesn't have immobilizer. 97-01 does, and you won't be able to use it on your H22 setup or you can convert to OBD1 and be able to get your H22 Accord tuned to extract more power and run like how it should. And your header will need to be modified to fit your current exhaust.

My Accord is an Automatic. So, I will definitely look into that.

It's not hard at all. It's pretty straight forward.
The hardest part I would say is the distributor wiring which I'm sure it's simple to do if you search. I've never done OBD2 H22 swap before, so I can't really say.

Rebuild your stock engine! Unless its easier to do the swap, I would try to keep an OBD specific motor in your Accord. Not to mention a manual conversion, which will probably cost you about another 150$. But so worth it.
Ok, you REALLY need to your research. Converting your car from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission. Requires adding a clutch pedal, installing manual shifter (easy), and buying the parts that a manual Accord uses.
