2001 Honda Civic LX automatic
Hello, i am new to these forums and this is my first post here and I am hoping to find a little guidance. I recently purchased a 2001 honda Civic LX automatic(BXMA) and everything was fine with it. After a little while I started to get what I thought was a piston slap at only 13-1500 rpms. The sound wouldn't increase with speed or anything. Well, all of a sudden on the way home from work my transmission started to feel like it went into neutral when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Then 2 miles later I practically had no transmission and the CEL went on. It was like I was in neutral and it wasn't grabbing. I turn the car off after about 5 minutes of being parked. After that I turn it back on and it engages into reverse just fine, drives away just fine, but quickly goes back to falling out of gear. I thought maybe the clutch plates were bad or something, but I then thought to check the vehicle speed sensor which mine looks different than the ones that are online. Mine has a small magnetic cylinder on the end and the ones online have a little gear. I was wondering if anyone has ran into this before. Thank you for your time and advice.
