Default 5th Gen Ram Air System

Has anyone tried this? I have a 2000 lude and I was looking at the front end design this weekend, and it looks pretty easy to make ram air system that goes from the passanger side fog light insert up to the intake cone. All I think that needs to be done is to remove the stock intake assembly and maybe trim some of the spash guards to get a tube up to the engine bay. Thoughts? Comments?

I dont think a ram air system would help that much. I read somewhere that trying to do a ram air setup wouldnt do much bacause of the design of the plenum on the intake manifold.

It wouldn't work from what I understand. You see the run of the intake tubing can't be too long. I believe the amount of surface area that the air to encounters can't be too large. I'm assuming the air won't have enough force in some manner. However, on my old '93 dakota V6, I ran some tubing (the plastic bendy/expandable stuff from the other side of the metal circular filter housing to behind my grill, in the same manner as the factory setup. I only noticed a slight increase in power up top. Remember though, I doubled my intake capacity to the filter, rather than lengthen the run and possibly lessen the capacity. just IMHO. Peace

I think if you cut a hole in the hood just above the intake and put a scoop and tubing to the intake, it could work, but quite frankly I dont know chit. Just a thought

Forgot to mention the obvious aesthetic implications

don't bother. just get a cold air intake. those showed the best gains on hondas.
ram air's don't really work on our cars.

i agree..i had an old short ram intake that didn't really give me any gains....only sounds. i switched later to a cai and definitely felt the gain.....not to mention a better sound.
