car is extremely jerky when its cold! 2011 Si
Ok anytime i go out and start my car after its been sitting and is totally cold and just take off after letting it idle for a min or 2 the car is very jerky and almost feels like the throttle is surging or something. but if i let it sit and fully warm up before i leave, then its perfectly normal!
Is this a normal thing with these cars or is something wrong? Its a bone stock 2011 Si sedan.

Normal...mine does it too. I think it has something to do with the fuel enrichment for cold starts, makes the engine twitchy... don't worry too much, but don't walk on it from a cold start either... let it warm up gradually with normal driving and then when it reaches normal operating temperatures, enjoy the go-go!!!
It sucks to say spend $500-600 to fix it, but FlashPro tune (even a base map) took all the issues away. Cold, rev hang, and throttle response.
The cold fuel enrichment is required in the northern climates to allow the engine to warm up faster due to sub zero temperatures. Removing this feature will result in longer warm up times and such, might even damage the engine. Do you not think Honda did research on this prior to releasing the engine for use in Canada and such? It might be ok to do a FlashPro fix if you never see -40 C or -40 F in your part of the world, but those of us who do don't **** around with engineering that is designed to keep our cars from exploding in the cold, thanks.
Thanks for the responses!
Now that i know that its normal i can continue with my parts buying binge! Ha
I planned on getting flash pro in the very near future along with the hybrid racing cold ir intake, skunk2 alpha header and skunk2 exhaust.
Im not concerned with cold start issues because the car wont be driven in winter after this year. Only reason im driving it now is because i just bought it 3 weeks ago.

Does this not seem bothersome to any of you? You spend as much money as you do on these cars, and they are essentially not useable? Too bad the powers that be won't fix them.
It's not a huge problem, it's a minor annoyance. Flashpro doesn't completely eliminate it, either. No matter if it's 2 degrees or 75 out, until you have 2 bars you'll experience it to some degree.

Yeah really. Think about it too...these cars were built in Ontario. My FA5 is a jerky motha-effer in the cold. My FG2 was pretty smooth though.
I've noticed this on other throttle by wire cars upon cold start up. I don't really find bothersome to drive a cold, jerky car for a few minutes. After all, it's a just a Civic.
