Default identifying engine help

I found a dohc VTEC motor at a scrap yard today. Still intact with header, intake mani, fuel rail and just about everything except for the throttle body. It even had the TPS and map sensor still on it.

I did however forget to identify the engine. If you guys can help me identify it with the little visual characteristics I can give thatd be cool. It is the engine with the very simple valve cover on it. Its not customizable with a wire cover or anything. If I had to guess I would say it might be a d series but I'm not positive. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Sorry for the vague description though.

Look at the front of the motor, near the transmission. It should be marked there. [letter][number][number][letter][number] is the general format, like D16Y7, or B18C1. It's pretty simple.

How exactly can it have the TPS if it doesn't have the TB? The TPS is on the TB.

I remember it being there. The TB must have been there then. I don't have the engine anywhere near me or else Id just look for the engine code.

There is no DOHC VTEC dseries. What car was it in? How do you know it was DOHC VTEC?

It was sitting on the ground in a pill of other motors so it was not in a car. It said DOHC VTEC right across the valve cover and had the VTEC module still connected.

OP, go take picture of this or something if you want it identified. A very vague description of an engine really just wastes everyone's time. Although really the smart thing to do is just look at the stamp on the block.

No customizable wire cover must be a d series. My guess d16z6 or d16y8.

Could be a B20. Why the stamp on the block wasn't checked I don't know.

OK OK obviously no one is reading the OP. I forgot to look for the badge number so I was hoping someone could identify it by description. I don't want to swap I want to buy it for cheap, rebuild it and resell it for profit.

Wow. Instead of making people guess at it go back to the yard and actually ID it and take at least one picture. Whose phone doesn't have a camera on it nowadays?

How about get on Google and do an image search? Jeez. This whole thread was a waste of time.

No, that's not possible.

Don't bother, you'll never make any money that way.

OP, this thread has been a giant waste of time, I'm locking it.
