Default b16a swap done. Started then quit....

Hi. After a trying couple of weeks i finally got my jdm b16a into my 90 crx si. It started on the first turn of the key.Needless to say it ran a bit shitty when i started it up....not a ton of smoke. It ran pretty good and after a while it started to run kind of shitty...When i went to start it again it wouldnt start....It just went click and wouldnt turn over. What gives? Other than that there arent any leaks except a bit of a coolant leak on the heater outlet hose... No oil or fuel leaks and the engine runs pretty good.....i have a few little things to fix but other than that its all good. Thank you to all of those who helped me along the way and kept me from ripping my hair out! I want to drive this thing! I pulled it out of my garage cuz it was smoking it up..it felt so good to have that thing rumbling in front of me....i cant wait to mash it to the floor. anyhow let me know what the deal is.....later. RYan

Ryan,

is the motor cranking over at all?

If it is just clicking, then it could be the starter solenoid, power to the starter or the ignition switch.

Try jumping the start solenoid (putting the solenoid directly to the battery), and see what the results are.

If the motor cranks over, then it could be a problem with fuel, spark delivery.

Keep us posted

running shitty, the no start, sounds like a bad batter/alternator or a bad ground to me.

yup. Clean off some connections, charge the battery again, and re-test. If the engine runs for a little bit and dies, then you should probly have the alternator tested by a shop. If you think it's not the alternator, then yah, check the grounds... Is your engine grounded well too? Cleaning off your spark plugs with some mild sandpaper would be good too, especially if they sat for a while. Or maybe get new ones.
