Question on how to test a tachometer
I have an auto cluster(came with car) whose tachometer seems to read 'slower' than the manual cluster I purchased a few months ago. The manual one seems to go up to 8-9k rpm easily, while at the same engine tone/pitch/sound, the auto one would barely be reaching 6-7k rpm.
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. I want to get the proper tach reading on my manual cluster. Thanks in advance.

In theory you could check which one reads the closest to the expected RPMs of your engine at a given speed and gear, and just use that one (ie., swap tachs). This info is in the service manual. Still tricky because there are a number of variables to account for, but could be "good enough" to give satisfactory results.
However, if you want to do it a bit more systematically, then this DIY link should help: http://honda-eg6.blogspot.ca/2010/10...on-how-to.html
