Default 91 ef hatch Daily DrIvEr??

Im gonna start off .. i like pics if u are on 56k stay away!!

ok guys heres my little 1991 honda civic hatch when i first got the car it had some horrible 17in rims on it
it was pretty much stock other than that 143k on the clock and a 4 speed manny

the original idea for this car was just to drive for better mpgs than my truck but i ended up walking right into one of the most aftermarket friendly car cultures lol and i was hooked ever since

heres a pic of the bay not to dirty

ewww
rimmmsss ewww

I took the dpfi cover off and polished it up ya gotta keep that dpfi FRESH

my model didnt have a tach from the factory so i went to local parts store and got me a straight up ricer wannabee tach off the shelf onto my dash

then i came across a set of rims at my local junk yard and i think it looks tons better now

not sure on a brand but they work

ok now heres where the life story of this hatch takes a turn
on the way home from work the hg decides to give up on me and in a cloud of smoke i limp it home and start to take everything apart and figure out what to do

look my messy work area lol

I have decided to go with the ever popular LS swap read so guides and stuff online seems straight forward enough

I found a b18a1 at my local junk yard SCORE idk anything about the motor or even if it runs but i took a gamble anyway

then next order of business i wanted to look at the bottom end
everything seemed good

went to go put the new timing belt on and noticed that the water pump was seized up =o

so i poped a new one in heres a pic of the old one

got it all back together and in time and poured some oil everywhere and this motor turns over like a hot knife through COLD butter so smooth. =]

put the valve cover back on and had some extra header paint so i started spraying lol....

then i rolled it over to the little EF and now just waiting on parts

Got around to getting the d15 pulled out ended up being easier than i thought it was going to be

no motor!@

Picked up a tranny local it seems to be a YS1 i think thats a regular ls tranny
and also got it my ebay stiff swap motor mounts!

Also got in my ebay F1 stage 3 6 puck clutch and slapped it on

I also ran across some cheap header off ebay couldnt resist for the price

Now the motor is in and running look how good/bad it looks lol

well running basicly open header wont work for long around my town so i finished off the ebay exhaust and order in a full 2.5in cat back with resonator and muffler

cheap ebay 2.5 catback... put a test pipe instead of cat

i am currently geting parts together to start boosting this litte daily driver

thanks for looking

You're pretty lucky getting a junkyard motor with seized water pump and it's working great! That's sweet! I could never have convinced myself to pull the trigger on something like that.

Did you do the dpfi/mpfi wiring yourself on your 1st try?

that looks in amazing shape, its hard to find ones like that in PA because of the salt there always rotted away, what kind of mileage did you get with the D15 and the 4spd? i had a STD model like this before but i didnt have it on the road long enough to figure out the mileage it was rotted bad, good choice on the LS i have a boosted one in my CRX and it takes quite a beating and hasent died yet, and ive been beating thee living hell out of it since 2008, as for lowering it cheap raceland makes a set of coilovers i think there right around $300 some people dont like them because they say there too "cheap" but i know someone that has a set and they seem to work just fine, also if your not trying to race it around a track you can go the ebay route ( i know everybody hates on ebay parts) but i had a set of cheap ebay springs, stock 89 accord front struts, and KYB GR2 rear struts i got out of the junkyard and i made my own extended top hats, the ride was a little soft, but it wasnt bouncy and the whole setup cost me about $70

yea i have been looking over the ebay springs and geting some kybs from my local auto parts store has them in stock ill check out the raceland to im not really geting into any racing will they make the ride real hard you think?

and and when i got the car the d15 had 143k on the clock low miles but it didnt hold up to long idk why maby had a hard life lol
whats the setup on your ls?

What did you do with the parts for D motor? On the air cleaner box you have something I like which is that metal wire thing that goes on the 2 screws on the air cleaner top

Lookin good man. Can't say I agree with having hood pins unless they're necessary.

i know your doing this on the cheap and its looking good dude, but you should look into why your making peak power halfway through your rev range.

The hood pins were a last min f it idea I kept breaking the line going for the linkage inside the car and got fed up and took it all off and drille some holes.... Oh and about the peak power halfway through I don't really know seat of the pants I can't really feel it drop off it is a stock motor top to bottom since this is my first turbod car I just don't know lol ...my friend said it was cause my exhaust was so restrictive. ....but I am geting intake throttlebody a exhaust cutout 3 bar map and going back for a tune on 14-15 psi would like to see higher 200 range but so far I love the power
