Default Whining/grinding then hard shift reverse/drive

I can't find a solutions... No one has posted a answer...

2000 Honda accord ex auto transmission...

When putting in reverse to drive or vice-versa(I recall) There is a whining/cranking/grindind sound... Also takes maybe 2-3sec before shifting into reverse or drive, with a hard shift!

Are there any solutions? Could it possibly be solenoids? I swapped this trans and engine last year and havent really driven it, but due to legal matters I could'nt take the car back to the mechanic.

Please help me out someone... I dont want to have to do a rebuild or another tranny swap.
